Why men's success is important
What's going on everyone. My name is Matt Mounier. I am a former athlete and owner of the untold 98% I work with transitioning athletes who are at the college or pro level and work with them on getting ready for their life after sports by being able to capitalize and continue to use their athlete mindset long after the ball stops bouncing.
I love this topic, men succeeding and I think it's, it's so important and it really starts with just understanding like what it is to truly be, you know, a man. And so I talk to my male athletes and I try to, every year I relate everything back to sports and I try to think of, tell them like what was it like to be a phenom athlete? Like what type of swagger did you carry with you, what type of confidence that you have. And I think what kind of gets missed when we start talking about this is how much genuine you know, how genuine you were and how much you cared about the other people around you. And I think when you start to move into, you know, what is it like to be a man after sports and continue to kind of carry this with you.
I think it's really important to be able to have something that you're still chasing just as passionately as your sport was. And I'm going to explain why because if you don't know, there's this person named Tim Grover who was the author of relentless and it's all about, he was a trainer of Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, and he really talks about like releasing that, that inner like person that you have, like that raw, authentic self of who you are and like just chasing whatever it is that you want.
And I think like if you have that missing, you're not really reaching the capabilities that you truly have within yourself. And so I always tell them like, if you don't have this purpose, if you don't have this willingness to like open up and be vulnerable and chase this thing, like you're never going to live your life to the absolute fullest. And so it's, and like, it's so important to have this because this is just the recipe for success. If you're able to continue to have this, this mindset, this ability to, you know, chase these things down, like that is truly how you'll be able to grow and be successful as a man.
